Conversation with a Hindawi Editor: Dr. Sidong Yang

Are you looking for early-career guidance? Then look no further than our editor interview videos.

Our editor interviews series focuses on how researchers can best prepare to get their first paper published in an academic journal. It also suggests ways to set up effective collaborations in the community. We will be interviewing a number of subject experts across a range of disciplines to give researchers first-hand information on how to become a better researcher.

In this interview, we welcome Dr. Sidong Yang, Lead Guest Editor of the Special Issue “Oxidative Stress in Intervertebral Disc Degeneration and its Related Therapeutics”.

Dr Sidong Yang is an established orthopedic spine surgeon at the Third Hospital of Hebei Medical University. He is currently based in Australia where he is pursuing a PhD at the Australian Institute of Bioengineering and Nanotechnology. Dr Sidong Yang’s main research focuses on intervertebral disc degeneration (IVD).

Here, Dr Yang talks about his work on the Special Issue, which brings together original research and review articles investigating oxidative stress-induced IVD and related therapeutics. We also discuss his two research groups based in China and Australia, and his thoughts on what authors should consider when publishing for the first time.
