Retinal vascular permeability is reduced by rAAV2-sVEGFRv-1. Linked to retinal vasodegeneration and the subsequent development of DR-related vision loss, vascular leakage is observable in retinal flat mounts (a, left column) as blurred regions of FITC-dextran staining, with the details becoming more distinguishable at 100x magnification (a, right column).
