Mean indices for the word groups (a) minerality, (b) saline, (c) shellfish, and (d) stony (from CellarTracker tasting notes) in relation to the mean slope gradient of 14 principal Chablis Premier Cru Climats. Spearman’s rank correlation between slope gradient and minerality was not significant (p > 0.05), but that for slope gradient versus saline, shellfish, and stony characteristics was. All wines were between 3 and 7 years of age when tasted.
