The Safeguard of Audio Collections: A Computer Science Based Approach to Quality Control—The Case of the Sound Archive of the Arena di Verona

One of the software tools developed for the Fondazione Arena di Verona. This utility performs a consistency control on the checksums of the stored preservation copies and should be run periodically. The utility processes the entire archive of preservation copies and outputs a log in real-time, informing the operator about the remaining time by means of two progress bars (one for the number of preservation copies and one for the single audio files). The output on the screen reports the files that are being processed at the moment: in case of a mismatch between the checksums, an alert message is notified to the operator.
