Effects of Earthquake on Behavior Characteristics of Fault Gouge in Time-History Analysis of Slope
Figure 12
(a) Maximum shear stress and (b) maximum shear strain of two fault gouges (no. 1 (blue) and no. 6 (red)) for each earthquake magnitude via pseudostatic (dashed lines) and time-history (solid lines) analyses. The maximum shear stress and strain both increase as the magnitude increases during the pseudostatic analysis. However, the maximum shear stress and strain for the M5.4 earthquake are lower than those for the M5.1 earthquake.
