Apoptotic and Early Innate Immune Responses to PB1-F2 Protein of Influenza A Viruses Belonging to Different Subtypes in Human Lung Epithelial A549 Cells

<div>Ectopic expression of PB1-F2 protein predisposes cells to minimal apoptosis. A549 cells were transfected with PB1-F2 constructs and the apoptosis was observed by TUNEL staining with FITC-conjugated dUTP cells showing apple green fluorescence which were apoptotic. The overall proportion of death cells was measured by propidium iodide staining (seen as red in color).</div>
