Synthesis and Characterization of <i>trans</i>-Dichlorotetrakis(imidazole)cobalt(III) Chloride: A New Cobalt(III) Coordination Complex with Potential Prodrug Properties

<div>UV-Vis absorption spectra of 2 mM of <b>2</b> in H<sub>2</sub>O at time = 0 (black) and time = 36 hours (red). Immediately after the addition of 10 equivalents of the biological reducing agent, ascorbic acid (blue), the signature Co(III) <i>d</i>-<i>d</i> transitions decrease in intensity over time (after 36 hours is shown in green) suggesting that reduction of the cobalt center is observed.</div>
