The surface morphology of 316 L stainless steel substrate (a) and 316 L stainless steel covered with TiO₂ sol-gel-derived coating (b), combined with the analysis of elemental distribution. The SEM-EDX map of stainless steel (c) shows the distribution of its main chemical elements, and the map of the TiO₂ coating (d) confirms the presence of Ti and demonstrates its deposition on the substrate’s surface.
