Resistin Enhances Inflammatory Cytokine Production in Coronary Artery Tissues by Activating the NF-κB Signaling

Resistin stimulates TNF-α and IL-1β production in HCAECs. HCAECs were stimulated in triplicate with Resistin (500 ng/mL) for varying periods and the relative levels of TNF-α and IL-1β mRNA transcripts were determined by quantitative RT-PCR ((a) and (b)). In addition, HCAECs were pretreated with the indicated doses of anti-TLR4 (0, 1, or 5 μg/mL) and stimulated with Resistin (500 ng/mL) for 18 or 24 hours, respectively, and the relative levels of TNF-α and IL-1β mRNA transcripts were determined. Data are expressed as the mean ± SD of each group of cells from three separate experiments ((c) and (d)). versus the control cells without stimulation.
