Effects of honokiol on proteins associated with apoptosis and cell cycle in SKMEL-2 (a, b) and UACC-62 (c, d) cells. Cells were treated with 0–75 μM honokiol for 12 and 24 hours. Following treatment, total cell lysates were prepared and equal amounts of proteins were separated by SDS-PAGE and subjected to western immunoblotting. Honokiol induces apoptosis in both cells as observed by the activation of different caspases and PARP cleavage. β-Actin was used to verify equal loading of the samples.
