Bone Morphogenetic Proteins 2/4 Are Upregulated during the Early Development of Vascular Calcification in Chronic Kidney Disease

<div><i>24-hour urine protein excretion and renal function.</i> Rats in the chronic kidney disease (CKD) group exhibited a vigorous increase in 24-hour urine protein excretion (a), blood urine nitrogen (b), serum creatinine (c), and cystatin C (d) levels compared to those of the normal control (Nor) group. Compared with the Nor group, the blood phosphorus levels of CKD rats were significantly increased (e), accompanied by decreased blood calcium levels from the 4th week (f).
