L-Carnitine Reduces Oxidative Stress and Promotes Cells Differentiation and Bone Matrix Proteins Expression in Human Osteoblast-Like Cells

L-Carnitine (L-C) increased the expression of osteogenic-related genes and of matrix proteins genes. L-C (5mM) stimulated significantly the gene expression of RUNX2 (a) at 1 and 3h and of OSX (b), BSP (c), BGP (d) and OPN (e) at 3 and 6h compared to control (straight line). Data are the mean ± SEM of six to nine experiments performed with cells obtained from different donors. ANOVA for nonparametric data (Kruskal–Wallis) with Dunn’s multiple comparison test: <0.05, <0.01, and <0.001 vs control.
