Developmental and Tissue Patterns of the Basal Expression of Chicken Avian <i>β</i>-Defensins

<div>Tissue patterns of chicken <i>AvBD</i>s along the GI tract, liver, and spleen. Tissue segments of the esophagus, crop, proventriculus, gizzard, duodenum, ileum, cecum, colon, liver, and spleen were obtained from chickens at 7-day-old. After RNA isolation, RT-qPCR analysis was performed to evaluate the mRNA expression levels of all chicken <i>AvBD</i>s. Fold changes of chicken <i>AvBD</i> expression were calculated relative to the expression level of the colon on day 28 using <i>GAPDH</i> as the reference gene and are expressed as the <svg
