Developmental expression of chicken β-defensins in the spleen. The spleens were harvested from broilers at 1, 3, 7, 14, and 28 days old and were subjected to RT-qPCR analysis after RNA isolation and reverse transcription. mRNA expression levels in β-defensins of indicated ages were calculated as fold changes relative to the expression level on day 28 using GAPDH as the house-keeping gene. Each bar represents the of the mean of three chickens. The difference was considered significant using one-way ANOVA followed by Tukey’s test. ; ; .
