<div>Deficiency of AMPK<i>α</i> abolished crocin-induced protective effects on adiposity in type 2 diabetic mice. Type 2 diabetes was induced in wild type and AMPK<i>α</i> mice using high-fat diet incorporated with STZ injection. The type 2 diabetic mice were treated with crocin or vehicle.
