Exendin-4 Attenuates Hepatic Steatosis by Promoting the Autophagy-Lysosomal Pathway

Exendin-4 induces autophagy. (a) HepG2 cells were treated with oleic acid (OA; 250 μM) or palmitic acid (PA; 250 μM) for 24 h. Then, cells were treated with or without exendin-4 (200 nM) for another 24 h. After treatment, cells were stained for LC3 using immunofluorescence. LC3 puncta formation was observed under fluorescence microscopy. Scale bar: 50 μm. (b) Quantification of autophagic cells. . All experiments were repeated three times with similar results.
