The proinflammatory ability of NETs. Neutrophils were isolated and were incubated with PMA in vitro; the supernatants containing the NETs were then collected. The supernatants were used to stimulate THP-1 cells at the indicated time points (0, 6, 24, and 48 h). The levels of (a) IL-1β, (b) IL-6, (c) IL-18, and (d) TNF-α were measured.
