The figure at the left represents the fraction of nodes in the LCC of the large local and global components as a function of the fraction of removed nodes under a weighted betweenness attack on the world air transportation network. We also represent the LCC of the world air transportation network in this situation. The Europe-Russia component and the global component are less sensitive to the attack. The figure at the right shows the weighted efficiency of the large local and global components as a function of the fraction of removed nodes under a strength attack on the world air transportation network. We also represent the weighted efficiency of the world air transportation network in this situation. The weighted efficiency of the world air transportation network and the large components are very sensitive to attacks based on the betweenness centrality.
