Volcano plot analysis applied to the microarray data revealed 634 genes that were significantly expressed ( with fold change 1.5 (up or down)) in basal obese patients compared to postintervention obese patients. The plot shows a log2-fold change in mRNA expression between the 2 groups (pre- and postdietary intervention) on the -axis and the negative log of -test values on the -axis. Each gene was represented by a single point, and dark gray areas indicate genes with significant changes in gene expression.
