Cytotoxic and virucidal effects of the extract of B. pilosa. (a) Cell viability was determined in triplicate cultures by WST-8 assay. The results are expressed as percentage of control and are mean ± SD of triplicate cultures. (b) Effects of the extract of B. pilosa on HSV-1 and HSV-2 infectivity. Viruses were incubated for 1 h at 37°C with increasing concentrations of the extract and immediately tested in a plaque reduction assay. Data are presented as % of control.
