Effect of [6]-gingerol on paracellular permeability in PANC-1 cells. Cells grown on Transwells were treated for 3 days. At time 0, PBS (0.5 mL) containing [14C] mannitol (0.1 µCi/mL) was added to the apical compartment. The amount of mannitol transported across the monolayer was determined by counting the samples in a liquid scintillation counter (LS 6500; Beckman Coulter). Data represent the mean ± SD from three independent experiments. Statistical analysis (one-way ANOVA) was performed using GraphPad Prism 5. * versus the untreated control.
