Antioxidant Effects of Quercetin and Naringenin Are Associated with Impaired Neutrophil Microbicidal Activity

Effects of naringenin and quercetin on HOCl production by activated neutrophils. Neutrophils (1.0×10⁶cells/mL) were preincubated in the presence or absence of naringenin and quercetin (25 and 50 μM) with 5 mM taurine. All of the samples were then incubated with PMA (6.65 𝜇g/mL). The TMB solution (50 μL) was then added to the samples, and HOCl production was quantified. The data are expressed as the mean ± SEM of three experiments. ^∗𝑃<0.05,^∗∗𝑃<0.01 compared with control group.
