The Flavonoid Apigenin Ameliorates Cisplatin-Induced Nephrotoxicity through Reduction of p53 Activation and Promotion of PI3K/Akt Pathway in Human Renal Proximal Tubular Epithelial Cells

The effects of apigenin on cisplatin-induced ROS production and p53 activation in HK-2 cells. The cells were pretreated with different concentrations of apigenin for 1 h and then exposed to 40 μM of cisplatin for 4 h (ROS production assay) or 8 h (Western blot analysis). The Intracellular ROS production was measured using DCFH-DA fluorescence dye. Values are means ± SD, (a). The levels of p53 phosphorylation and expression were examined by Western blot analysis using anti-phospho-p53 (Ser15) and anti-p53 antibodies.
