Ethanol Extract of Perilla frutescens Suppresses Allergen-Specific Th2 Responses and Alleviates Airway Inflammation and Hyperreactivity in Ovalbumin-Sensitized Murine Model of Asthma

Serum levels of OVA-specific IgE in OVA-sensitized BALB/c mice supplemented with different extracts of Perilla frutescens. OVA-sensitized mice were fed with water or ethanol extracts of Perilla frutescens for 3 weeks, respectively. Sera of mice were collected and the OVA-IgE levels were determined by ELISA. Values represent mean ± SD, = 7~8 for each OVA-sensitized group, and for the PBS group as negative control. Statistical analysis was performed with Student’s -test, , compared with the control group.
