Yokukansan Increases 5-HT1A Receptors in the Prefrontal Cortex and Enhances 5-HT1A Receptor Agonist-Induced Behavioral Responses in Socially Isolated Mice

Figure 5

Yokukansan (YKS) cotreatment exacerbated the reduction in rearing induced by injection of a 5-H receptor agonist (8-OH-DPAT) in isolation-stressed mice. (a) Rearing behavior and (b) total distance traveled. Each column is the mean ± SEM (). Asterisks and daggers indicate a significant difference: versus 0 mg/kg 8-OH-DPAT in mice subjected to isolation stress alone (isolation); versus 0 mg/kg 8-OH-DPAT to YKS-treated and isolation-stressed mice ; versus 0.3 mg/kg 8-OH-DPAT-treated isolation-stressed mice.
