The Essential Oil from Acori Tatarinowii Rhizome (the Dried Rhizome of Acorus tatarinowii Schott) Prevents Hydrogen Peroxide-Induced Cell Injury in PC12 Cells: A Signaling Triggered by CREB/PGC-1α Activation
Figure 6
Up-regulation of PGC-1α expression was involved in the cytoprotective effects of ATEO in PC12 cells. To elucidate the specificity of ATEO-induced PGC-1α expression in cytoprotection, the protein level of PGC-1α (a), mRNA level of anti-oxidant proteins (b) and intracellular ROS level (c) were assessed in PGC-1α knockdown cells, as earlier mentioned. ATEO (15 μg/mL) was used in the study. β-actin served as an internal control. Data are expressed as fold of control (untreated culture), and mean ± SEM, where n = 3. , ATEO-treated siCon vs. ATEO-treated siPGC-1α group; , siCon vs. H2O2-treated siCon group; , H2O2-treated (siCon + ATEO) vs. H2O2-treated (siPGC-1α + ATEO) group.
