Protective Effects of Alternanthera sessilis Ethanolic Extract against TNF-α or H2O2-Induced Endothelial Activation in Human Aortic Endothelial Cells

Figure 2

Effect of A. sessilis ethanolic extract on TNF-α-induced hyperpermeability of HAECs. HAECs cultured on collagen-coated transwell inserts were pretreated with various concentrations of A. sessilis (25–200 μg/mL) or simvastatin (2 μM) for 24 h followed by stimulation with TNF-α (10 ng/mL) for 6 h. At the end of the experiment, the media in the bottom well was collected, and fluorescence intensities of the bottom well were measured. Data are presented as the mean ± SEM of three independent experiments, where each was performed in triplicates. #P < 0.05 as compared to the unstimulated control. P < 0.05 as compared to the TNF-α-treated group.
