Signs of intestinal obstruction and pneumatosis of the small and large intestinal walls due to an embolism of the superior and inferior mesenteric arteries. (c) Intraoperative view of the same patient. Widespread necrosis of the walls of the small intestine and colon was revealed during exploratory laparotomy. Resection was not performed due to the advancement and extent of necrotic changes.
