Journal of Chemistry would like to express concern with the article titled “Modified Chitosan-Clay Nanocomposite as a Drug Delivery System Intercalation and In Vitro Release of Ibuprofen,” [1]. As raised on PubPeer [2], the article was found to contain duplicate images within Figure 2(b). The details are as follows:(i)Figure 2(b), top right panel, is duplicated in part in Figure 2(b) middle left panel.(ii)Figure 2(b), middle right panel, is duplicated and magnified in Figure 2(b) bottom left panel.(iii)All images are labeled at the same magnification despite the duplications showing this to be incorrect.
We asked the authors for their explanation and to provide the raw data for the article. Dr. Nehal Salahuddin could not provide the original files and his co-author, Dr. Rehab Abdeen, is deceased. Thus, the article cannot be corrected, however, the duplication of panels reflecting the same experimental conditions as described above should be noted.
