Fasting plasma glucose levels in the experimental groups. Overnight fasting blood glucose was measured for the first time 3 weeks after unilateral nephrectomy; the second point of measurement assessed the effects of five-week high-fat diet with beef tallow. OGTT was performed 1 week after STZ administration (at week 9). 2 weeks after induction of diabetes fasting blood glucose levels were measured every 5 weeks until the end of the experiment at week 30.
