Protective Effect of the HIF-1A Pro582Ser Polymorphism on Severe Diabetic Retinopathy

Distribution of different grades of DR according to HIF-1A variants in patients with type 1 diabetes. The severity of DR was categorized according to the International Clinical Diabetic Retinopathy Severity Scale. Blood samples were analyzed for the HIF-1A Pro582Ser polymorphism and patients’ genotypes were classified into the groups CC, CT, and TT.
