Immune cell phenotype and repopulation pattern in the spleen of allogeneic and syngeneic transplanted mice at the early phase of GVHD. Female BALB/c mice were transplanted with and BM and SP cells, respectively, from male C57BL/6 (allogeneic) or BALB/c (syngeneic) mice. Repopulations of different immune cells were evaluated in the spleen of recipient mice. Absolute number of (a) NK (DX5) (b) DCs (CD11c) (c) CD4 T helper and (d) CD8 cytotoxic T cells in 100 mg of the spleen tissue in allogeneic and syngeneic setting. (◆): allogeneic group, (◊): syngeneic group and (O): control mice. All values are mean ± SE for 4 to 6 animals in each group per time point. Differences were analyzed statistically employing U-test, compared between groups ().
