Growth of Human Colorectal Cancer SW1116 Cells Is Inhibited by Cytokine-Induced Killer Cells

Figure 3

Antitumor effects of CIK cells in vivo. Nude mice ( ) were injected subcutaneously with 5 × 106 SW1116 colorectal cancer cells. In the CIK-consecutive-treated group, 5 × 108 CIK cells were injected abdominally into the mice once every day for 5 days. In the CIK-interval-treated group, 5 × 108 CIK cells were injected abdominally into the mice once every 5 days on 5 occasions, namely 5 times in 3 weeks. In the 5-FU-treated group, 5-FU was injected intravenously at 50 mg/kg. Body weights were measured every 2 days (a). Tumor volumes were calculated by using the formula: length (mm) × width (mm) × height (mm) (b). Representative photographs are shown (c). On day 30, the mice were sacrificed, and the tumor weights were determined (d). Standard deviations and -values were calculated with Student’s -test ( ).
