Crotalus durissus ruruima Snake Venom and a Phospholipase A₂ Isolated from This Venom Elicit Macrophages to Form Lipid Droplets and Synthesize Inflammatory Lipid Mediators

CdrV and CBr induces formation of lipid droplets in macrophages. Microphotographs of macrophages evidencing the formation of lipid droplets induced by CdrV or CBr. Elicited macrophages were collected from three independent experiments with 3 to 5 animals. Cells were placed in glass coverslips. Elicited macrophages were incubated with CdrV (10 μg/mL), CBr (6.5 μg/mL), or RPMI (control) for 1 to 12 h. Lipid droplets stained with osmium tetroxide are indicated by the arrows.
