COX-2 and COX-1 protein expression is not upregulated by CdrV and CBr in peritoneal macrophages. Neither Cdr venom nor CBr affected COX-1 and COX-2 protein expression in peritoneal macrophages. Elicited macrophages from three independent experiments with 3 to 5 animals were incubated with CdrV (10 μg/mL) and CBr (6.5 μg/mL) or RPMI (control) for 1, 3, 6, and 12 h. The figure shows western blotting and densitometric analysis of COX-1 and COX-2 and β-actin (loading control) bands in macrophage extracts.
