<i>Crotalus durissus ruruima</i> Snake Venom and a Phospholipase A<sub>2</sub> Isolated from This Venom Elicit Macrophages to Form Lipid Droplets and Synthesize Inflammatory Lipid Mediators

<div>COX-1 but not COX-2 is involved in LD formation induced by CdrV and CBr in peritoneal macrophages. Elicited macrophages from three independent experiments with 3 to 5 animals were treated with valeryl salicylate (30 <i>μ</i>M) or etoricoxibe (1 <i>μ</i>M) for 1 h before stimulation with CdrV (10 <i>μ</i>g/mL) or CBr (6.5 <i>μ</i>g/mL) or RPMI (control) for 1 h. LDs were counted using light microscopy after osmium staining.
