Attenuated joint damage in CD38^-/- CIA mice. CIA mice were generated from the WT and CD38^-/- mice, as described in Materials and Methods. The knees of mice were collected from the normal WT, WT CIA, and CD38^-/- CIA mice at the end point (5 weeks postboosting of the CII antigen). Histological sections of joints were stained with H&E. Pathological changes in the joints of normal WT mice (a), WT CIA mice (b), and CD38^-/- CIA mice (c) are displayed ( per group/experiment).
