Lipoprotein(a), an Opsonin, Enhances the Phagocytosis of Nontypeable Haemophilus influenzae by Macrophages

Lp(a) enhanced phagocytic efficiency of U937 macrophages in a dose-dependent manner. Lp(a) at 10-fold increasing doses, from 0.1 μg/mL to 100 μg/mL, was used in the phagocytosis assay, and its effect was evaluated by CFU counts (a) and RFI values (b). The MOI of NTHi49247 was 63 : 1. Values represent from three independent experiments. Statistical significance of the differences between groups was determined by two-way ANOVA and the Bonferroni post hoc test. , .
