Lipoprotein(a), an Opsonin, Enhances the Phagocytosis of Nontypeable <i>Haemophilus influenzae</i> by Macrophages

<div>Lp(a) enhanced phagocytic efficiency of U937 macrophages in a dose-dependent manner. Lp(a) at 10-fold increasing doses, from 0.1 <i>μ</i>g/mL to 100 <i>μ</i>g/mL, was used in the phagocytosis assay, and its effect was evaluated by CFU counts (a) and RFI values (b). The MOI of NTHi49247 was 63 : 1.
