In vivo confocal microscopy was used to assess the effectiveness of drug treatment in diabetic mice. Subepithelial corneal innervation was scrutinized and images were analyzed for total nerve length. Arrows in the representative images indicate the location of subepithelial nerves. Data for innervation are presented as the mean ± SEM and shown in mm/mm². The number of animals per group was the same as described in Table 3. compared to control group, compared to control group, compared to untreated diabetic group, and compared to untreated diabetic group.
