Classification of the Korean Sign Language Alphabet Using an Accelerometer with a Support Vector Machine
Figure 4
Schematic of classification processing of the accelerometer-based system. The triaxial acceleration data (Acc , Acc , and Acc ) are normalized, and the vector sum is calculated using baseline-corrected triaxial acceleration data. The triaxial acceleration and the vector sum data are automatically segmented using a specific threshold. The average values of segmented data for each axial acceleration, roll, pitch, and yaw and the vector sum data are calculated as features. The features are used as inputs of the support vector machine (SVM) to classify sign language letters.
