Continuous Exposure to Low Doses of Ultrafine Black Carbon Reduces the Vitality of Immortalized Lung-Derived Cells and Activates Senescence

Low-dose UBC aggregates on the cell surface and may translocate into macrophages. Images captured upon UBC treatments after the 9-day mark across A549, LA4, RAW264.7, and THP1 cell lines. The images were digitally captured by light microscopy using a Leica Model DMIL EC3, LED and observed with LAS EZ Leica Microsystems program at a 40x magnification: media “untreated” control, 10 mM H2O2 control, and 3.0 µg/mL UBC are shown across each cell type.
