Adverse Health Effects of the Long-Term Simultaneous Exposure to Arsenic and Particulate Matter in a Murine Model

<div>Effect of exposure to As and PM<sub>2.5</sub> and the coexposure to As + PM<sub>2.5</sub> in lung inflammation. The lung inflammation was analyzed by histological morphometric analysis. (a) The control group (A1 to A3) did not show lung inflammation areas at experimental time-points, whereas those exposed to As (B1 to B3), PM2.5, and coexposed to As and PM<sub>2.</sub>5 (C1 to C3) showed a higher lung inflammation area which increases with the time of exposure. (b) The percentage area of total lung affected by inflammation was calculated at 7, 14, and 28 days in experimental and control groups, <i>n</i> = 4 per group.
