High-Fat Diet Induces Oxidative Stress and MPK2 and HSP83 Gene Expression in Drosophila melanogaster

Quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR) analysis of Hsp83, MPK-2, CAT, and SOD mRNA in flies exposed to high-fat diet. Flies were exposed for seven days to 0%, 10%, and 20% of coconut oil in their food. qRT-PCR was used to quantify levels of mRNA of each diet after exposure. The data were normalized against TUBULIN transcript levels and each bar represents the mean ± SEM. Three sets of twenty flies were used for each diet condition. indicates a significant effect of a high-fat diet in comparison with a RD ().
