The Neuroprotective Effects of Carvacrol on Ethanol-Induced Hippocampal Neurons Impairment via the Antioxidative and Antiapoptotic Pathways

Figure 10

Silence ERK pathway partially repeal the antiapoptosis effects of carvacrol. (a) The efficiency and specificity of siRNA directed against ERK. (b)–(d) Ethanol increases hippocampal neurons apoptotic rate and caspase-3 activity as well as decreasing cell viability compared with control group. These proapoptotic effects can be reversed by carvacrol. However, when it is silence or block ERK pathway, carvacrol antiapoptotic effects can be partially repealed. The data are expressed as the mean ± SEM ( per group). compared to control group; compared to ethanol group.
