Honokiol Protects against Anti-<i>β</i>1-Adrenergic Receptor Autoantibody-Induced Myocardial Dysfunction via Activation of Autophagy

<div>Honokiol protected cardiac systolic and diastolic function. Rats were randomly divided into the control group (saline treatment), <i>β</i>1-AAB group (<i>β</i>1-AR-ECII treatment), <i>β</i>1-AAB + HNK group (<i>β</i>1-AR-ECII plus HNK treatment), and <i>β</i>1-AAB + vehicle group (<i>β</i>1-AR-ECII plus saline treatment). LVSP (a), LVEDP (b), +dP/dt<sub>max</sub> (c), and −dP/dt<sub>max</sub> (d) were measured. In the <i>β</i>1-AAB group, LVSP and +dP/dt<sub>max</sub> decreased and LVEDP and −dP/dt<sub>max</sub> increased. These values changed in the opposite direction in the <i>β</i>1-AAB + HNK group, whereas there was no difference in the <i>β</i>1-AAB + vehicle group.
