Protocatechuic Acid Attenuates Trabecular Bone Loss in Ovariectomized Mice
Figure 2
Micro-CT analysis of the cortical and trabecular bone. OVX mice received PBS as a vehicle, PCA (10 mg/kg and 20 mg/kg), or E2 (0.1 mg/kg) for 12 weeks. Vehicle and PCA were delivered orally, and E2 was given by intraperitoneal injection. The proximal and distal parts of the right tibias were scanned by in vivo μ-computed tomography (CT). Representative images of the cortical (a) and trabecular bone (b) reconstructed using Comprehensive TeX Archive Network (CTAN) topographic reconstruction software are presented. E2: 17β-estradiol; OVX: ovariectomized; PCA: protocatechuic acid.
