Melatonin Antagonizes Nickel-Induced Aerobic Glycolysis by Blocking ROS-Mediated HIF-1α/miR210/ISCU Axis Activation

Effects of melatonin on nickel-induced alteration of miR210 expression. The levels of miR210 expression in cells exposed to nickel with or without melatonin were evaluated by qRT-PCR (a). Chemically synthesized oligonucleotides were transfected into cells to control the function of miR210. The effects of melatonin on nickel-caused alternation of HIF-1α (b and d) and ISCU1/2 (c and e) were evaluated under conditions of miR210 inhibiting or mimicking. The error bar reflects the S.E.M of at least three independent experiments. compared with the nickel-free control group, and # compared with the same nickel concentration but with the melatonin-free group.
