Melatonin Antagonizes Nickel-Induced Aerobic Glycolysis by Blocking ROS-Mediated HIF-1<i>α</i>/miR210/ISCU Axis Activation

<div>Effects of potential HIF-1<i>α</i> inhibitors on nickel-induced HIF-1<i>α</i> and miR210 upregulation. Several compounds that reportedly inhibited HIF-1<i>α</i> were tested with the indicated concentrations and the same treatment procedure as melatonin. The effects of 2-deoxyglucose (2-DG), <i>α</i>-ketoglutarate (<i>α</i>-KG) derivative, N-acetylcysteine (NAC), and rapamycin (Rapa) on nickel-induced HIF-1<i>α</i> accumulation were measured by western blot (a and b). The effects of HIF-1<i>α</i> inhibitors on nickel-induced miR210 increase were measured by qRT-PCR assay (c and d).
