Shear-Induced ITGB4 Promotes Endothelial Cell Inflammation and Atherosclerosis

Shear-induced ITGB4 promotes endothelial cell inflammation and atherosclerosis. Low shear stress increased the expression of ITGB4, and ITGB4 activated FAK and SRC. SRC promotes the nuclear translocation of NFκB and increases the expression of ICAM-1 and VCAM-1 and the generation of ROS. In turn, the activation of NFκB promotes ITGB4 transcriptional activity.
