PPAR-𝛼 Contributes to the Anti-Inflammatory Activity of Verbascoside in a Model of Inflammatory Bowel Disease in Mice

Western blot analysis for PPAR-$\alpha$ in nuclear extracts. By Western blot analysis, a basal level of PPAR-α expression was detected in colon tissues from sham-operated mice ((a) and (b)). Four days after DNBS administration, PPAR-$\alpha$ expression was significantly reduced. VB treatments significantly reduced the DNBS-induced inhibition of PPAR-$\alpha$ expression. The relative expression of the protein bands was standardized for densitometric analysis to lamin A/C levels and reported in (b) expressed as mean $\pm$ s.e.m. from $n=5/6$ colon for each group. *$P<.01$ versus Sham; °$P<.01$ versus DNBS-WT group.
